Семейная жизнь для Ларисы окончательно превратилась в кошмар. Муж страшно пил и бил ее. Сама Лариса из-за частых болезней маленькой дочери Танюшки не могла удержаться ни на одной работе. Жить было не на что.
Во время очередного запоя, когда муж снова ударил Ларису, соседка решила помочь и познакомила героиню со своими постояльцами – семейной парой челноков Мариной и Романом. Они искренне посочувствовали молодой женщине и предложили поехать вместе с ними в приморский город, стать их помощницей. Обещали поселить у себя в доме, обеспечить работой и даже купили билеты.

Family life for Larisa has finally turned into a nightmare. Her husband drank heavily and beat her. Larisa herself, due to the frequent illnesses of her little daughter Tanya, could not hold down a single job. There was nothing to live on.

During another binge, when her husband hit Larisa again, a neighbor decided to help and introduced the heroine to her lodgers — a married couple of shuttle traders Marina and Roman. They sincerely sympathized with the young woman and offered to go with them to the seaside city, to become their assistant. They promised to settle her in their house, provide her with work and even bought tickets.

But the new life did not turn out to be a fairy tale. Roman took Larisa’s passport … and as payment for his debts, sold her and her daughter into «slavery»: now they are forced to beg on the embankment. Larisa tries to find protection, but everyone in the town knows about the beggarly business, and no one wants to help her…
